Jeans are hard to get right. So when we design our jeans, not only do we offer shorter inseams, we must consider the rise, the pocket size, the taper below the knee—every detail must work proportionally.

We chose the finest European 12-13 ounce weight denim, washed once, as the foundation. This allows for a sturdy jean, but not too stiff so it's immediately comfortable without a break-in period.
Our designer stuck with the classic five-pocket jean, straight cut with no adornment or brightly colored stitching. It's a tried-and-true look that flatters all our 5' 8" and under guys because we keep the leg long and lean and our rise just right. We also make our back pockets smaller and raise them up on the backside so they don't hang too low. These little details make all the difference, which is why we have been earning so many overwhelmingly favorable reviews.
At Peter Manning we offer five different types of jeans, all suitable for different outfits and occasions. If you only buy one pair, get our dark indigo version, which you can dress up with our any of our button up shirts tucked in and an Essex blazer. This dark rinse works equally well with a T-shirt and sneakers too.
A newer addition is our dark indigo with just a tiny bit of stretch, which is great for bike commuters and anyone who prioritizes all-day, all-week comfort.
Lighter wash jeans (we call it Old School) in 2016 are much better than those 1980s versions because ours have a more uniform fade throughout. They look great with a contrasting sweater such as our Madison Quarter Zip in charcoal.
Our medium wash (original blue) jeans are our go-tos for the weekend. There's just something about their lived-in appearance that put us at ease. The advantage of buying jeans pre-faded is that usually dark jeans that actually have been through that much wear tend to get stretched out.
And finally, there are our black jeans, which used to be just worn by guys like Adam Levine. Right now, black denim is simply the most refined version out there—the choice of everyone from artists to professors to finance guys. Try them. You might be surprised at how confidence inspiring black jeans can be.
